At our clinic, our primary goal is to provide timely and accurate diagnoses, followed by effective treatment based on international protocols. For patients diagnosed with breast cancer, early detection is our main priority on the grounds that early-stage treatment significantly increases the chances of a cure. For patients with normal test results, we believe it is our duty to reassure them and plan follow-up appointments as needed, whether that is in six months or a year.

Our emphasis on early diagnosis is based on solid scientific evidence. Timely detection allows us to intervene when the disease is most manageable, greatly improving survival rates. This not only provides a crucial time advantage, but also fosters a sense of control and hope for the patient.

Concerning breast cancer screening, women over the age of 40 are required to present a recent mammogram. When taking their medical history, we study and compare the current mammogram to a previous one, if available. Following this, we perform a thorough clinical breast examination and an ultrasound scan. In some cases, additional tests such as a breast MRI may be necessary for a more detailed evaluation. For women under 40, mammography is not routinely recommended. If needed, it can be performed later based on individual assessment. Breast examination is part of the annual gynecological examination and should not be neglected. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of consistency in its repeatability.

In addition to the above-mentioned tests, when considered necessary, we also perform the percutaneous biopsy, a simple, painless and completely safe procedure in our experienced hands.

The procedures previously described, concern much of the female population and remain to be the gold standard for evaluating breast pathologies. Any variations must be discussed and co-decided with us. However, for patients with a personal or strong family history of breast cancer, follow-up recommendations differ and are discussed in detail during consultations. This personalized approach ensures that each patient receives the most appropriate treatment based on her medical profile.
